- The Nasdaq is the more rate-sensitive side of the tape. The Nasdaq Composite fell 1.3% to 27,193.34 on October 8 as oil rose and yields swung, with selling concentrated in tech and growth names. It had closed at 27,599.79 on October 6, when the S&P 500 set a record, then gained 0.6% on October 9 and fell 0.4% on October 12.
- The 10-year Treasury yield reached 5.34% on October 1, the highest since 2002, and Fed minutes on October 7 showed most officials see another rate hike by year end; both weigh on long-duration growth valuations.
- Mega-cap AI news flows through QQQ: ASML's record Q3 with Q4 guidance of €14.2-15.2 billion and TSMC's raised 2026 growth outlook to about 44% support the semiconductor leg, which also includes Nvidia, Broadcom, AMD and Micron.
- Next: Q3 results from the index's mega-caps in late October, the Q3 GDP advance estimate and September PCE on October 29, the October jobs report on November 6 and October CPI on November 10. Quarterly options expiry and index rebalance fall on December 18.
